Mike Rogers

Not to name names, but Mike Rogers has entertained judges, CEOs (Barnes & Noble's), wine families (Robert Mondavi's), TV comedy writers (Jeff Foxworthy's, etc.), pop singers (The Backstreet Boys'), All-NFC NFL All-Pros (Mike Kenn), pro baseball Hall of Famers (Don Sutton), managers (Bobby Cox) and even The Jamaican Bobsled Team Captain. He's performed when the guest speakers were NFL MVPs and Players of the Year (also All-Pro Atlanta Falcons). Memorable nights have found him on the same bill with the drummer from Lynrd Skynrd and one of classic R&B's Muscle Shoals Horns (jazz guitarist Larry Carlton's wife baby-sat his son during that set).

Picture Neil Young or Aaron Neville singing oldies accompanied by John Mayer’s Band. "…similar at times to the sophisticated rock of the Atlanta Rhythm Section" says national periodical Music Line. Before his Sound Effects Studio began producing The Mike Rogers Band's demos, drummer Herbie Sully worked with future Mick Jagger guitarist Brendan O’Brien and Bertie Higgins (“Key Largo”). Bassist Jack Gleason performed in a high school Jazz band representing the U.S. at the big Montreux (Switzerland) Jazz Festival. Born of Jamaican parents, University of Miami (scholarship) student Tivon Pennicott was twice voted Outstanding Saxophone Soloist at Lincoln Center jazz competitions in New York and has worked with trumpeter Wynton Marsalis and UCLA professor Kenny Burrell.

Mike's had albums produced by the guitarist from projects by The Temptations, Diana Ross and Toni Braxton and album tracks produced by Sir Paul McCartney's Wings drummer. For one project he borrowed the drummer from a band featuring some former members of Kansas. Before a career working with students kept them closer to home, his wife Von joined former members of The Eagles, Poco/Buffalo Springfield, The Byrds/Stephen Stills' (of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young) and Emmy Lou Harris’ bands in the studio (to this day, these projects continue to be re-released every few years as they have for almost thirty years). Mike's songs have been co–published by Sony Music and The Lowery Group (publishers of songs for The Beatles, Deep Purple, etc.) and by Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks and have been on Grammy-nominated albums.
